Ask yourself a simple question the next time you are at King's Gym Croydon:

When you do a Lat Pulldown, do you actually feel your back working? Or do you just feel your arms getting tired?

Most people in South Croydon are experts at moving objects from Point A to Point B. But moving a weight isn't the same as building a muscle. If you can’t consciously squeeze the muscle you are trying to target, you are wasting your reps.

The Problem: The "Sleeping" Muscle

Your body is smart. It wants to do things the easy way. If your chest is weak, your shoulders will take over to push the bar up. If your glutes are "asleep" from sitting at a desk all day, your lower back will take the load during a deadlift.

This is why you can train for years and never see your physique change. You aren't training the muscle; you are just tiring yourself out.

The Solution: Activation (Week 9)

In Week 9 of my 10-Week System, we master Muscle Activation.

Anyone can lift heavy. Only the pros activate. Before we do the heavy work, we "wake up" the target muscle using three steps:

1. Pre-Activation: We do 10–15 light reps specifically to flood the target muscle with blood.

2. Tactile Feedback: I teach you to touch or tap the muscle to reinforce the brain-to-body connection.

3. The Squeeze: We focus on the contraction, not the weight. If you can't flex it, don't lift it.

Once you learn to activate a muscle on demand, you control how your body looks.
